Mediation Week highlights the growing role of out-of-Court resolutions in family law

30 January 2025

Family mediation has long been recognised as a constructive and cost-effective way to resolve disputes, helping families reach agreements without the stress and expense of court proceedings. According to the Family Mediation Council, 70% of people who engage in mediation reach an agreement without having to attend court.

As of the 29th April 2024 the rules around resolving family disputes were updated and now require family law solicitors to actively encourage mediation, aiming to reduce unnecessary litigation and promote out-of-court resolutions.

At 29 Bedford Row, our barristers are highly experienced in all forms of mediation and alternative dispute resolution, helping families navigate complex issues in a way that prioritises constructive outcomes.

With Mediation Week (27th -31st January) underway, it’s the perfect time to highlight the growing support for mediation and the positive outcomes it can achieve.
